This is a really fun idea to reinvent the classic chinese lantern as a decorative piece for a child’s room. Making this lantern hot air balloon requires just a few items you probably already have around the house.
Supplies:
- Chinese lantern (any size will do)
- Scissors
- Yarn or string
- Empty small box
- Tape and glue or stapler
Cut off one long side of your box to make a basket
Tape up the edges so it’s sturdy
Wrap in paper, making it as neat as possible
Make the sides as pretty as possible, use rolls of tape to hold in place
Cut 6 pieces of yarn or string about 10 inches long each
Take three and tie them into a knot at one end and attach it to the middle of one inside of the basket using a stapler or glue/tape
Attach the other ends to the inside of the botom of the lantern. Using a stapler is the most secure way.
Hang with string, evenly distribute with zoo animals and enjoy!
