DIY: Scales Paint Chip Art

I love the scalloped/scales look. It’s cheap, easy and fun to make so let’s get started!

What You’ll Need:

  • Paint Chips – free at most hardware stores
  • Double Sided Tape
  • Poster Board
  • Circle Paper Punch
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pen

Punch out your paint chip circles. I forgot to take pictures before I punched all of mine. Oops!

Measure the size with a ruler and mark it with a pen.

Cut the poster board to size. Make sure the poster board fits into the frame you’ve picked.

You may want to separate your colors into piles to make them easier to find and place.

Using the double sided tape, start taping! Overlapping the circles carefully to create the scales effect.

It should look a little something like this. Depending on whatever color scheme and placement you go with.

Flip it over and cut along the edge of the poster board to remove the overhang of circles.

Make sure you like the way it looks after you cut it. You may want to make some adjustments.

Now, you’re ready to frame it!

Your new piece of art is ready done for hanging!
