This project is a great one to do with kids when you’re in need of a hostess gift this holiday season. Kids will love experimenting with rock placement and design.
Supplies:
- Felt
- Cardboard
- Dessert plate to trade
- Bag of medium sized rocks
- Scissors
- Pen
- Glue gun
Trace the plate onto the cardboard and cut out, being careful not to bend the cardboard
Do the same with the two pieces of felt. Trace the plate and cut out both pieces with scissors
Add a few dabs of hot glue to the cardboard and sandwich it between the two pieces of felt
Make sure the edges are glued as well
Here’s the fun part with the kids! Take your rocks and decide how to arrange htem on the trivet. Help you child consider color schemes, shape of rock, and flatness

Now when you’re design is set, use your glue gun to attach the rocks to the felt trivet and allow to dry
