Halloween is just around the corner and we’re in full costume mode in my house.
Elizabeth was easy – Tinkerbell. A good friend loaned us a costume, I’ll put some fresh daisies in her hair, and we’ll call it good.
Joseph is an story entirely.
After careful consideration, he decided he wanted to go as a Lego ghost from the Lego Monster Fighter set. He orignally wanted to be the werewolf but thought the masks were a little too scary.
Looking at the pictures, I pondered his costume. “I think we could do this, Joseph. We just need to adjust our pattern for Jedi robes, use white fabric, and have it cover your face.”
“Just make sure the top is a little pointy because that’s what makes them Lego ghosts.”
“That shouldn’t be too hard. I can actually picture it-” I stopped myself with the realization I was planning on making my son a white, pointy hooded cape for Halloween. Obviously it was time to regroup.
A little planning party later and we had it somewhat sketched out. With white mittens to help his hands to be the Lego figure “c” shape, some boxes for his legs and arms, and a much less pointy white hood, he’ll be good to go.
Now I just need to drag out my sewing machine and get started.
As for me, I’m apparently going to be Tinkerbell’s mom. I’m not quite certain what that entails, but I have a feeling it won’t be the short skirted adult costumes I’ve found online.
