Gorgeous DIY Poinsettia Wreath

This gorgeous DIY Poinsettia Wreath is easy to make, and hangs beautifully on your front door. Mix up the colors you choose to match your home decor – we’ve made ours in gleaming gold.

Materials:

14 inch straw wreath
2 1/2 inch by 50 foot gold ribbon
5 gold poinsettia blooms
glue sticks
hot glue gun

Instructions:

Step 1: Leave the plastic wrap on the straw wreath to hold it together and to keep pieces of loose straw from sticking through the ribbon.

Step 2: Start wrapping the ribbon around the wreath. Wrap the ribbon over the end to secure it, then keep wrapping around the wreath. If the ribbon is thin/transparent, wrap it a second time around. When you’re finished wrapping, secure the end of the ribbon with a little spot of hot glue.

Step 3: Make a bow for your wreath by wrapping 5 or 6 loops of ribbon, 10 to 12 inches wide. Hold the loops securely in the center.

Step 4: Wrap a second 24 to 28 inch piece of ribbon around the center and fasten it in place with a little bit of glue to gather and hold the center together. Leave about a 10 inch tail on each end. Cut the tips of the tails at an angle.

Step 5: Use your fingers to separate the loops on each end of the bow to form the loops. Keep working the loops until they’re all separated and look full.

Step 6: Use the hot glue gun to glue the bow to the bottom front center of the wreath.

Step 7: Separate the poinsettia flowers. They should have a joint right behind the flower to separate them from the spray. If they don’t, separate them with a pair of wire cutters.

Step 8: To make the poinsettia fuller you can add a couple leaves from the spray to the back of the poinsettia blooms using the hot glue gun.

Step 9: Glue the poinsettias to the left hand side of the wreath just above the ribbon. Alternate the poinsettias back and forth so they’re in a cluster, not in a straight line.

Step 10: Add loops of ribbon between the poinsettia leaves to help fill in any bare spots. Secure the ribbon with the hot glue gun.

Step 11: Cut a 14 inch piece of ribbon and loop it around the top of the wreath and tie it securely to hang it on the wall.
