I got drunk and made out with someone?
None of these scenarios have ever happened, except maybe the second one — but I totally nipped that in the bud. We used these hypothetical situations to test our relationship boundaries by hypothetically cheating, even if some situations fell within the grey zone of infidelity. Our responses varied each time we played the game, but the truth is we really have no idea how we’d handle it if the other one cheated for real.
Cheating spouses consistently make headlines in celebrity news. Kendra Wilkinson, for example, recently announced that she’s giving her husband Hank Baskett, former pro-football player, a second chance after his alleged infidelity. Baskett reportedly cheated on her while she was eight-months-pregnant with their youngest child, who is now 5 months old. (Hank, however, denies the cheating allegations.)
“This man who I loved for six years, I believe deserves…a second chance if he did make a mistake,” she said during an interview with “Access Hollywood Live” on Thursday, October 2. “And right now I’m working that out.”
At the beginning of our relationship, I staunchly believed that cheating would be the deal breaker in my marriage. But after 12 years of marriage and two children under our belt, I’m not so sure.
If my husband cheated on me, I’d be furious! Would I kick him out? Maybe, maybe not. Would I immediately file for divorce? It depends.
While I’d never stay in a loveless marriage just for the sake of my children, I wouldn’t want to end a relationship we’ve built together for the past 12 years without giving things serious thought. I imagine that as long as my husband wanted to mend our relationship, I would give him another chance.
