Kristen Bell & Dax Shepard’s 5-Year-Old Still Wears Diapers & It’s All Good

Kristen Bell says her youngest daughter, Delta, is still wearing diapers at the age of 5 and guess what – it’s totally fine. The Good Place star recently revealed this information while talking to celeb moms Maya Rudolph and Casey Wilson during a recent episode of Momsplaining.

“My oldest daughter, at 21 months, we merely suggested that she use the toilet in the other room and [she] never wore another diaper beyond that. We were lying in bed giggling about this, my husband and I were like, ‘Why does everyone make a big deal out of this potty training? It’s so easy. Just tell the kid to use the toilet,” Bell quipped. And then she quickly added, “Currently, my youngest is 5 and a half, still in diapers.”

“It’s real relative, isn’t it?” Rudolph responded. “Yes, because every kid is so different,” Bell said.

We’ve always admired Bell and Shepard’s laid-back attitude towards parenting and this is a perfect example of how the couple doesn’t freak out over the little things in life. Most experts agree that the last thing you want to do is force your kid toward potty training before they are ready. Especially now – when there’s so much uncertainty and kids are processing things in different ways. Kids certainly don’t any more stress in their lives, that’s for sure.

The subject of potty training has always been a parenting hot topic, from the “right” age to get started to the most effective methods. And we all know that folks can super judgy, especially when it comes to raising kids.

The best takeaway from this is that all kids develop at their own pace – and if your kid isn’t following a schedule that is considered “the norm” there’s no need to panic. And there’s also no reason to judge others.
