Robin Thicke’s important parenting advice will serve kids for a lifetime

In an interview with Nessa on “Hot 97,” Robin Thicke opened up about an important parenting technique he swears by with his four children. The singer confessed to taking up therapy about co-parenting and shared his learnings on the subject with the host.

Thicke said that the therapy sessions made him understand “something very valuable,” which is to teach the children how to make “good decisions.” He stressed the importance of having children make good decisions since parents are not always going to be in their lives.

The singer continued, “When they need to make a good decision and that’s what you really want to impart upon them is quality decision making throughout their whole life.” Upon being asked how parents can implement the technique, he expressed that they just have to “be there.”

The father of four said it is important to “be aware” and “pay attention” because children will have “weaknesses at times.” Thicke further told the host how he focuses and pinpoints if he sees “something going in the wrong direction.” He then acts upon it by deciding his children’s decisions or actions need to “be loved,” “moved,” and “maneuvered” because “they are gonna struggle with things.” He also felt that parents should prioritize figuring out their children’s struggles and going through them with them.

Thicke said, “If you’re blaming the kids for the way they are instead of figuring out how to adjust who they are. So I just really always take the blame. I always go, ‘No, no. I need to do something first.'” He also cited examples from his life that he experienced with his kids. While urging and requesting everyone to follow through, the singer maintained that this parenting tip does work with his four kids.
