In a recent interview, Zoë Saldaña opened up about her desire to direct movies, but it has to wait as motherhood takes precedence over her career. In the interview, Saldaña revealed that parenting is a higher priority for her and she will put off trying her hands at directing movies till her kids are much older.

Zoë Saldaña reveals her focus on parenting before becoming a director

Zoë Saldaña recently sat down for an interview with Variety, where she revealed that she would like to take on directorial projects but will wait until her kids are older. The “Avatar” star stated that as a director, she likes to be hands-on, and the project will likely take years. However, her children are too young, with her twins being 9 years old and her youngest being only 7.

The actor would rather work on directing projects once they are “old enough where they don’t even notice” when their mom is away. Zoë Saldaña also noted that besides motherhood taking precedence over career, she just finds it “intolerable” to be away from her family. However, she doesn’t want to let the creative in her die. In the interview, Saldaña said, “I always walk around with a heavy heart every time I’m away from them. But I also have a heavy heart if I walk away from art.”

Earlier this month, the “Guardians of the Galaxy” star celebrated all moms who are making the “ultimate sacrifice.” In an Instagram post, Zoë Saldaña talked about how hard it was to be on the road with little ones waiting at home. However, she commended fellow mamas for balancing their dreams and parental duties and not giving up on either.
