Scarlett Johansson recently provided some insight into her parenting, revealing that she is trying to delay her kids’ exposure to social media. Scarlett Johansson admits feeling pressured to get her daughter a phone
On November 26, Scarlett Johansson opened up about her decision to keep her kids away from social media, a common parenting move for many celebrity parents. The star isn’t on any social media platforms herself. Thus, it isn’t a surprise she wants her children to stay away from the internet for as long as possible.
The actor told Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, “My daughter is 10 and so there’s a lot of that pressure coming around now, especially if she is hanging out with older girls.” Fortunately, her son is only three years old, and most of his interest goes into playing with Legos. However, her daughter is at an age where the pressure to give her a phone has started building up, but Johansson is planning to delay it for as long as she can.
Scarlett Johansson admitted that it is hard for her to come to terms with handing her kids phones which will give them access to social media. She feels the platforms are “hard for young people,” putting unnecessary pressure on little ones. In the interview, she also said, “I feel like technology is moving so much faster than our human egos can process.”
The actor would rather wait for her kids to be adults before they decide to dive into the vast world of social media. She also got some valuable advice from the talk show hosts, with both suggesting an old-school flip phone if her daughter needs a means to contact her. An Apple watch would also do the trick, providing the kids only the ability to call or text their parents.
