Reese Witherspoon Apologizes For The Behavior That Led To Her Arrest

Reese Witherspoon is a bit embarrassed about getting arrested in Atlanta this weekend.  The celebrity mom released a statement regarding the situation and apologized to the arresting police officer.

In case you missed it, Reese was arrested on Friday night after her husband, Jim Toth, was pulled over and arrested for DUI.  According to reports, Reese got a little out of hand and refused to stay in the car when the police officers told her to, leading to her arrest for disorderly conduct.

Late tonight Reese released a statement about the lapse in judgement:

“Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that was no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I am very sorry for my behavior.”

According to the police report, at one point “Mrs. Witherspoon began to hang out the window and say that she did not believe that I was a real police officer. I told Mrs. Witherspoon to sit on her butt and be quiet.”

Reese and Jim were released on Friday morning and are due in court tomorrow morning, but aren’t expected to appear in person.
