Former Shameless star Emmy Rossum shared the first photo of her baby daughter over the weekend in an effort to encourage people to get vaccinated. “When I was pregnant I got vaccinated. Not only did we have a healthy, beautiful baby girl but we also just learned our daughter now has antibodies. In short, stop being an irresponsible idiot and get the vaccine,” she captioned the sweet Instagram post.
Emmy Rossum and her husband, Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail, welcomed their daughter in May and announced her arrival on Instagram. “May 5.24.21 On a sunny Monday morning, at 8:13AM, we welcomed our daughter into the world,” she wrote.
The COVID-19 vaccine can help protect the most vulnerable among us and that most definitely includes children. According to the Center For Disease Control (CDC), “babies under 1 year old might be more likely to have severe illness from COVID-19.” And now with cases rising across the country due to the delta variant, vaccinations are more important than ever.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 has struck the newborn of another celebrity. Earlier this month, former Entourage star Kevin Connolly announced that his newborn daughter was hospitalized with coronavirus. “My daughter, she’s got COVID,” he told Victory the Podcast (via USA Today). “I went to pick up a prescription and I’m looking at this paper and it has ‘age.’ On her (prescription) it said ’43 days.'” He added, “It’s been hard. It’s hard when your kid is sick, you know?” Because there’s really nothing you can do.”
