Snoop Dogg announced over that weekend that his beloved mother, Beverly Broadus Green, passed away. In a series of emotional Instagram posts, the rap icon shared touching tributes to the woman who stood by his side his entire life.
While no cause of death was announced, Snoop revealed earlier this year that his mother was hospitalized. Over the summer, he shared a photo of himself and members of his family visiting his mother in her hospital room.
“Happy Sunday me and my brothers went to c mama today and she opened up her eyes to c us and let us know she still fighting,” he captioned the photo. “God is good thanks for all the prayers 1 day at a time.

According to Yahoo News!, Green, also known as Beverly Tate, was born in 1951 is a published author and evangelist. In 2014, she released “Real Love II,” described as the detailed journey of a celebrity mom and extraordinary woman … mother of four sons, including rapper/hip-hop artist, Snoop Dogg.” It continues: “It’s more than a sharing of her experiences,” reads the description, “but it’s her story about how she learns just how deep God loves her and that it is His love that is truly the real thing.”
During her 70th birthday party celebration last month, she sat down for an interview to discuss her life. “It’s been a joy coming to this,” she said, “even though there were times when I thought I wouldn’t make it. I’ve been a sick woman, in the hospital for six weeks at a time, and didn’t know, but the God that I serve, he told me it wasn’t time, and he let me live on just a little bit longer. And I’m so happy. I’m so blessed.”
