Halle Bailey on Overcoming Guilt as a Working Mother to Son Halo

Halle Bailey recently got candid about overcoming guilt as a working mother to her son, Halo. The singer-actor welcomed her first child with rapper DDG in December last year. Following the pair’s split, the 24-year-old has now opened up about her “mom guilt” as she tries to keep a work-family balance.

Halle Bailey opens up about dealing with mom guilt

While speaking to E! News, Halle Bailey touched on her feelings of “mom guilt.” She shared that it is difficult for her to be away from her 9-month-old baby boy whenever she has to travel for work without him. “The Little Mermaid” star said, “I feel like I’m learning so much still when it comes to that.” Bailey also added that she loves Halo and that “it’s hard to be away from him.” 

Last month, Bailey performed her 2023 hit song “Angel” at Vice President Kamala Harris’ fundraiser in Los Angeles. She noted in an Instagram post that she flew directly from Paris to sing for the “beautiful vice president.” Bailey also gave a glimpse of her busy schedule as she recently attended the New York VIP screening of “The Line.”

During her chat with E! News, Bailey shared how she overcomes feelings of guilt as a working mother. She explained, “I think you just have to chant to yourself that you’re doing this for your baby.” The new mom further said that she assures herself by thinking “this is all going to be worth it and he’s so proud of you.” Bailey further noted that comforting herself with “positive affirmations” has helped her.

Halle Bailey also shared that her son is “calm” when he joins the singer-actor on her work trips. The star recalled Halo has been traveling with her since he was “really, really small.” Bailey said, “So I think he’s used to lights and stuff now.” The actor added that Halo “knows the role, he knows the system and program.”
