In a recent interview with Parade, “The Last Showgirl” stars Pamela Anderson and Jamie Lee Curtis got candid about their lives as working mothers. Both the actors, who have two children each, agreed that it is always quite challenging to navigate motherhood while maintaining a professional side.
While referencing their film, Curtis said, “The center of the movie is the story of a single mother who has taken a choice to do her art.” She continued, “The consequences of having that child [played by Billie Lourd] come back and say, ‘It hurts me that you chose your art over me.'” She further explained how working moms would relate to the movie’s theme, adding, “Most working mothers in the world will see this movie and identify with that complex issue.”
Next, Curtis, who has two daughters — Annie and Ruby — with screenwriter Christopher Guest, went on to talk about her own experience as a working mom in the interview. She said, “I have two children, 38 and 28, and I’ve worked all of their lives, and I have suffered for it.” The actor also acknowledged that her two daughters “have suffered for it, and that’s the complicated dance.”
Pamela Anderson, who shares sons Brandon Thomas and Dylan Jagger with musician Tommy Lee, completely agreed with her co-star on the matter. She said, “There’s no perfect way to do it.” The cookbook author added, “We’re all gonna face our adult children and beg for forgiveness.” She later explained how her sons are “wonderful” when they look at her and say that she has “nothing to be ashamed of.” However, she thinks it is still “heartbreaking.” “You just feel responsible,” Anderson said.
