WWE star Cody Rhodes recently opened up about how being a father has changed his mindset completely. The professional wrestler shares a 3-year-old daughter, Liberty Iris Runnels, with his wife, Brandi Rhodes. The 39-year-old got candid about his family life during an interview while attending a Monday Night Raw event in Los Angeles. Rhodes also gushed over being a father and a husband is his “number one priority.”

Cody Rhodes spoke to PEOPLE while attending a Monday Night Raw event in Los Angeles on January 6. The wrestler gushed about his daughter, Liberty Iris, and said how she has “changed everything” for him. Rhodes also explained his home dynamics, stating, “You have to go home and report back to a three-and-a-half-year-old who doesn’t care if you just wrestled in front of 80,000 people.” He continued, “She cares if you make funny noises and there’s ice cream, you know?” Rhodes added that Liberty Iris has altered everything for him “in the best of ways.”
The WWE star also got candid about wrestling being “selfish” and explained, “You got to get to the top, and you want to be number one.” Rhodes added that he wanted that for himself for a long time. He also said, “To a degree, maybe I wanted it for my dad a little. I wanted it for him.” Rhodes’ father, Dusty Rhodes, was also well-known in wrestling.
However, the two-time Intercontinental Championship winner acknowledged that things changed after he became a father. Rhodes revealed, “Having a daughter right out of the gate, all of that went away.” The pro wrestler elaborated, “It was not about where I am. It was more about the life that I could give her.” Later, he also said he wants Liberty Iris “to have the best life.”
Cody Rhodes further recalled he had the “best life provided by pro wrestling.” He then said, “I want to give her an even, you know, more special — another level of that.” Later, the WWE champion stated that being a father to Liberty Iris and a husband to Brandi Rhodes is the “number one priority” for him.
