Kim Kardashian Defends North West’s ‘The Lion King’ Performance From Critics

Kim Kardashian does not tolerate negativity and is not one to hold back to shut down the haters, especially when her children are involved. In episode 3 of “The Kardashians” Season 6, Kardashian clapped back at her daughter North West’s critics after the 11-year-old’s “The Lion King” performance at the Hollywood Bowl. Even the celebrities become hyperaware when their children are in the spotlight. Kim Kardashian, who is all about glamour and theatrics, is no exception to this rule. On Thursday, the latest episode of “The Kardashians” showed the SKIMS co-founder reuniting with her ex-husband, Kanye West, for their eldest daughter’s Hollywood Bowl performance.

Sharing the proud moment, the ex-couple arrived to watch North perform “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” from “The Lion King” before the audience. Though Kardashian was excited about her daughter’s huge milestone in the entertainment world, she opened up about feeling anxious leading up to the final performance.

Anticipating mindless chatter from online trolls, the reality TV icon confessed her nervousness exceeded North’s during rehearsals. The protective mother feared the backlash that her daughter would receive from potential haters, compelling her to address them. According to PEOPLE, Kardashian acknowledged that North has “a personality” and that she is “a performer.” She added, “And if anyone wants to hate on a child that is having the time of their lives… F— you.”

Furthermore, the media personality did not hold back when she said, “Anyone that is hating on a kid is just a hater.” In a poignant moment watching her daughter shine on stage, the proud mother firmly stated that North’s performance was about gaining experience and not vocal maturity. Defending her daughter’s passion, Kim Kardashian called out the haters, saying, “And she’s not there to be Mariah Carey.”

The episode showed North delivering an energetic performance that led to cheers and applause across the arena. Kanye West called the performance “so good” and Kardasian’s admiration was evident in her reaction as she declared feeling proud while wiping off tears. Meanwhile, North admitted to being nervous while performing and hitting the right note, but her parents were there to tell her that they had her back.
