Kate Hudson recently got honest about one parenting advice that all moms should follow, and it’s undoubtedly helpful. The actor shared her words of wisdom while appearing on Kylie Kelce’s “Not Gonna Lie” podcast.
During the heartfelt conversation, Hudson, who welcomed her first child, Ryder, with her ex-husband, Chris Robinson, in 2004, got candid about what it is like parenting teens. The film icon shares her second son, Bingham, with Matt Bellamy, and her daughter, Rani, with her fiancé, Danny Fujikawa.
Kate Hudson advises fellow moms to ‘let your kids go’
Kate Hudson had some advice for fellow moms as she appeared on the April 28 episode of Kylie Kelce’s “Not Gonna Lie” podcast. The actor shared the golden words after opening up about welcoming his first child, Ryder Robinson, as a young mom.
Hudson gushed over raising her son into a good person and even got emotional over how he’s “giving back” to her now. The “Bride Wars” star said, “It’s pretty awesome,” and added, “So if you put the effort in, it does come back.”
Hudson then shared her parenting advice for all moms and said, “Let your kids go.” She continued, “Let them f—king go. Don’t hold on. Don’t expect anything of them.” Hudson explained, “The expectation of, like, ‘Oh, you need to be here for me,'” and other things, however, “When they start getting older, it’s like, no. You’ll never hold onto them.” The “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” actor continued elucidating, “The second you hold on too tight, it’s going to drive them nuts. They’re going to run.” Hudson asserted, “I really think that.”
Hudson added that at some point, the parent has to let their kids “go” and allow them to “enjoy their life.” She added, “Let them be for a bit.” Meanwhile, Kelce, who welcomed her fourth daughter with her husband, Jason Kelce, in March, also chimed in, “Have faith that you did what you were supposed to do as [a] mom to be able to send them out into the world and thrive.”
