Nothing says classy like a can koozie! Okay, well maybe nothing says fun summer party like a can koozie. Any way you slice it, these DIY can koozies are super fun to make, and a total walk in the park. You can customize them any way you like; you can make them for individual guests or for each member of your family. Take them to the park, the lake, or the beach, or just keep them at home for your summer barbecues, and your drinks will stay cool while you party down.
Supplies:
- plain foam cup koozie (Michaels has them in the dollar aisle!)
- foam sheets (optional: the peel and stick kind, to make it super easy)
- glue
- scissors
- other various decorations (googly eyes, glitter—the sky’s the limit)
Instructions:
Step 1: Decide on a design for your koozie and cut some pieces out of your foam sheets. I started with one for Dad that says “Chill Out.” Cut the design out of your foam using scissors. (Or if you have an intricate design you might want to consider a cutting machine like the Cricut Explore! That’s what I used.)
Step 2: If your foam sheets are not peel and stick, add a bit of glue to the back of each letter and glue it on carefully. Be sure to clean up any glue that seeps out from the edges. Allow to dry thoroughly.
Step 3: Make up some more designs for the rest of the family! How about a kissy face for Mom? From your foam sheet, cut a scalloped edge and some lips. Grab some googly eyes and stick the eyes and the foam to the koozie.
Step 4: Customize a koozie to match your party! Stripes that go with a color theme are super fun. Cut out foam stripes and glue or stick them on. Be sure you let your koozies dry thoroughly, and celebrate responsibly! Happy summer!
