This latest Hollywood divorce news might not come as a big shock to many. Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchison have decided to separate after just two years of marriage.
At age 16 Courtney shocked (and horrified!) the world when she married the Green Mile actor, then 51. The two met online when Courtney signed up for acting classes Doug was offering at the time. They began an “online relationship” shortly after. Courtney’s mother Krista approved of their relationship and they were married in Las Vegas in May 2011 – and made headlines.
The former reality stars released a statement, sharing that they’ve decided to split but will remain living in the same house and Doug will continue to co-manager her career.
“After two and a half years of marriage, Courtney and Doug have decided to become legally separated. This is a mutual and amicable decision that they’re making together. As you know, Courtney was married at a young age. Now, at nineteen, she’s interested in exploring life as an unmarried single young adult – with the freedome to explore her independence. Doug supports Courtney 100%. The two will share custody of their precious pup, Dourtney, remain living in the same house (for now) in separate bedrooms, and Doug will be co-managing Courtney’s career. ‘We love each other very much, want for each other’s happiness and will continue being best of friends for life’.”
I always thought something was “off” with these two (aside from the whole minor child thing being super twisted). I never got a “real couple” vibe from them. It could have just been the ick factor, but it seemed like they married more for the shock factor and headlines and were really just friends.
