2013 was a rollercoaster year when it came to losing the stars we love. From the shocking deaths of Paul Walker , Cory Monteith and James Gandolfini to the tragic suicides of Mindy McCready and Lee Thompson Young , it was a sad and tumultuous year. We also said goodbye to icons like Beach Blanket Bingo star Annette Funicello , Mrs. Archie Bunker (aka Jean Stapleton ) and beloved movie critic Roger Ebert.

February 17th
Troubled country singer Mindy McCready (real name Malinda Gayle McCready) took her own life just one month after the suicide of her boyfriend.
Mindy was only 37 years old and left behind two sons, Zander, 7, and Zayne, 1.

Bonnie Franklin
March 1st
Actress Bonnie Franklin passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Bonnie was most well-known for her role as the tough talking single mom, Ann Romano, on One Day at a Time . She was 69 years old.

Annette Funicello
April 8th
Iconic beach babe Annette Funicello died at the age of 70 after a battle with multiple sclerosis that lasted more than twenty years.

Roger Ebert
April 4th
Film critic Roger Ebert, 70, passed after an 11 year battle with cancer and other health complications that took his voice. Roger reviewed films right up until his death and estimated that he had watched more than 10,000 movies throughout his lifetime.
Two days before he died he told fans he was taking a "leave of presence" . His final words were, "So on this day of reflection I say again, thank you for going on this journey with me. I'll see you at the movies."

Jonathan Winters
April 11th
Comedian Jonathan Winters passed away from natural causes at the age of 87.
Jonathan most recently voiced the character of Papa Smurf in The Smurfs and The Smurfs 2. The actor is likely most recognized for his hilarious role on "Mork & Mindy", playing Mork's giant half-alien baby boy named Mearth , who hatched from an egg, fully grown....

Richard Griffiths
May 28th
Harry Potter fans were crushed to learn that actor Richard Griffiths died after suffering complications stemming from heart surgery. He was 65.
Though we all knew him as Uncle Vernon Dursley, Richard was a stage actor at heart, often playing comedic characters in Shakespearean performances.
The beloved actor once joked, "If I had my way, all actors over 55 would be issued a 3 pound wet salmon with which to slap the face of every young, beautiful, successful upstart. 'That's for being so lucky, you bastard!' I would shout. And then, hit them again, if you can."

Jean Stapleton
May 31st
Iconic actress Jean Stapleton died from natural causes at the age of 90, surrounded by her friends and family in New York City.
Jean began her acting career in 1951 and kept working well into her 80's, finally retiring in 2001. She'll always be remembered as Edith Bunker, after playing the wife of Archie Bunker on All in the Family for more than a decade.

James Gandolfini
June 19th
The Sopranos actor James Gandolfini suffered a heart attack while on vacation in Rome with his teenage son and died at the age of 51.
James left behind his wife Deborah and their baby daughter Liliana, now 14 months. He also shared a son Michael, 13, with ex-wife Marcy.

Cory Monteith
July 13th
Glee actor Cory Monteith was found dead in his Vancouver hotel at the age of 31. His cause of death was ruled as a deadly mix of heroin and alcohol.
Cory had openly struggled with addiction for several years and was thought to be doing well at the time of his shocking passing.

Lisa Robin Kelly
August 14th
Actress Lisa Robin Kelly checked herself into rehab in mid-August, but died in her sleep just a few days later. The exact cause of Lisa's death is still under investigation.
The 43 year old actress starred in movies such as Jawbreaker and Clubland , but will always be recognized as Eric Forman's sexy (yet ditzy) older sister Laurie on the hit series That 70's Show .

Lee Thompson Young
August 19th
Lee Thompson Young was found dead in his apartment after he didn't show up for work on the set of the hit series Rizzoli & Isles , where he'd played the role of Detective Barry Frost for three years.
The "Famous Jett Jackson" actor, who suffered from bipolar disorder, took his own life after a battle with depression. He was just 29 years old.

Paul Walker
November 30th
The world was shocked when Fast & Furious actor Paul Walker died at the young age of 40 in a horrifying car accident.
Paul left behind a daughter, Meadow, 15.
It was announced that Paul's foundation "Reach Out Worldwide" will continue on after his untimely death.
