SISTAHS! A ‘Hocus Pocus’ Sequel Is Coming to Disney+

Halloween got a major reboot in 1993 when Disney dropped the cult classic, Hocus Pocus that was set in Salem Massachusetts and centered around the goofy and evil but also lovable Sanderson Sisters. The trio of witches was mistakenly brought back to life after a 300-year timeout for terrible behavior but once back they pursue their wayward plans to suck the souls of the town’s children in order to regain their youth.

26 years later there is finally a Hocus Pocus 2 in the works.

Disney has reportedly hired screenwriter, Jen D’Angelo who you may know from her work writing and co-producing Workaholics. Her task is to find a way to bring back the original cast of witches, Bette Midler as Winnifred, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Sarah, and Kathy Najimy as Mary to play the legendary withes.

As of now, none of the original cast is officially attached to the project, however, there seems to be quite a bit of excitement brewing online where rumors of a sequel have been swirling for years. In an Instagram post, Midler told Entertainment Tonight, “Inundate the Disney company, because I have canvassed the girls and they are willing to do it, but we have no say in it, so if you want a HOCUS POCUS 2, ask the Walt Disney company.”

The Hocus Pocus 2 project is part of Disney Plus, an upcoming streaming service that is set to launch in November and that will include an impressive list of TV and movie franchises including Disney originals, Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar. The subscription-based service will cost $6.99 a month.
