Christmas of 2021 was the first one actor Mark Wahlberg celebrated without his mother, Alma Wahlberg. On Monday, though, Wahlberg posted a video to Instagram to show a very special gift he received from a close friend who understood the loss.
This gift, a pendant necklace adorned with Alma’s photo, honored the late matriarch. And seems to have meant a great deal to Wahlberg, during a difficult holiday.

Alma Wahlberg passed away at the age of 78, in April 2021.
At the time of her death, Wahlberg posted a tribute to her, says Pop Culture. “My angel. Rest in peace,” he said. “I’m so blessed to have been brought into this world by, raised by, taught by, and set on my life’s path by, such an amazing woman.”
Since then, Wahlberg regularly posts tributes to his mom. Including one on what would have been her 79th birthday, and on his own 50th birthday.

The thoughtful gift was given to Wahlberg by his friend, Joyner Lucas, a musician. In Wahlberg’s video, he presented the pendant proudly and gratefully.
“This right here is a special gift,” he says, kissing the pendant. “Joyner Lucas. His mom, his dad, and his brothers and his sisters, gave me this amazing gift in memory of my mother. I love you guys. Thank you. Happy holidays. God bless you.” He praises Lucas as “the best rapper in the world right now, the hottest in the game,” and includes photos of his friend in the posting. A lovely tribute to their friendship.
Shortly after, Lucas responds. “Love you Mark,” he says, then reposts the video on his own account. In his caption, Lucas wrote, “I love you, my brother,” and revealed that the pendant was made by Trax NYC. He thanked them for their “flawless work.”
