Actor Tyrese Gibson shared the passing of his mother, Priscilla Murray Gibson, to Instagram this week. According to Entertainment Tonight, she’s been battling a combination of COVID-19 and pneumonia since February. Unfortunately, like so many others, the battle was lost.
On Monday, Gibson, known for his role in The Fast and the Furious franchise films, paid his mother a touching and heartbreaking tribute.
Tyrese Gibson Promises To Hold His Mom’s Hand Forever
Gibson posted a video from his mother’s bedside at the hospital to Instagram. Within the emotional tribute, he holds her hand and you can hear him speaking to her. He says, “Rest in peace mom. You fought. Oh my god, I’m so sorry this happened, mom. Jesus.”
From there, he goes on to make her a promise. “I’m gonna hold your hand for the rest of my life, okay?” Gibson says. “Everywhere I go, I’m gonna hold your hand the way you held my hand when I was a kid.” He further expresses that for every journey he goes on from here, she’ll be there.
In the caption of the post, Gibson further elaborated on both his heartbreak and that of his family’s. “On behalf of my family and everyone who ever spent anytime praying for my mother, this is the saddest moment of my life,” he says. “My sweet Valentine just passed away.”
“May the lord Jesus Christ honor your walk with him and embrace you into the heavens,” Gibson writes further. “From here on I ask that you HOLD MY HAND MOTHER and never let my hand go.”
Sadly, it reads like the words of a truly heartbroken man and son, who didn’t expect to lose his mother this way, or so soon.
