Some of the Best Halloween Movies To Watch With Kids

With Halloween quickly approaching, we are sure you must have already started looking for spooky decor ideas and working on some DIY projects along with your kids. However, do you want to make the day spookier for your little ones? If yes, you must watch these Halloween movies with your kids.

While some of the films are centered around the spooky season, others are horror movies that are appropriate for children to watch. Dim the lights (make sure to keep some lights on if you are watching these films with little ones), get some much-needed snacks, enjoy the movie any time of the day (or night, if your kids are true daredevils who fear nothing), and celebrate Halloween with your loved ones.

ParaNorman (2012) – PG

The plot follows a boy named Norman Babcock, who lives in the town of Blithe Hollow. While he might look like a normal child, he has a special ability. The little boy can speak to the dead, making this animated movie the perfect fit for a Halloween movie night with kids. Now, it’s up to him to save his town from a deadly curse with the help of ghosts and zombies.

Goosebumps (2015) – PG

This American horror comedy movie is perfect to watch with your kids during Halloween. The movie is based on R. L. Stine’s children’s horror book series. Following his father’s death, teenager Zach Cooper moves to Madison, Delaware, with his mother from New York City. Although, not thrilled about relocating at first, his opinion quickly changes when he comes to know about his neighbor, young-adult horror author R.L. Stine.

However, soon enough things go out of hand when he sets the writer’s imaginary demons free in the town of Madison. He then teams up with the author, and his daughter to tame the demons. You can also watch its sequel for a Halloween night movie marathon.

Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie (2005) – G

If you have younger kids in the mix, this movie is a must-watch on Halloween. Winnie the Pooh and his friends are all geared up and excited about trick-or-treating during the spooky season in their Hundred Acre Wood neighborhood. However, Tigger warns them about a notorious Gobloon who kidnaps others and turns them into lanterns. It is a great story to teach kids about teamwork, friendship, and bravery.

The Curse of Bridge Hollow (2022) – TV-14

This Netflix movie might make you think twice about your Halloween decorations! A teenage girl releases an ancient and notorious spirit by mistake that can make the Halloween decorations come to life. Now, it’s up to the father-daughter duo (played by Marlon Wayans and Priah Ferguson respectively) to catch the spirit and save Halloween before it wreaks havoc.

A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting (2020) – TV-PG

Watch this movie on Netflix with your kids this Halloween for an evening full of magic and monster hunting. Based on the trilogy of the same name, the film starts with high school freshman Kelly Ferguson reluctantly agreeing to babysit on the day of Halloween.

However, when the baby gets abducted by monsters, she meets and gets recruited into a secret society of babysitters who protect kids with special powers. Is she able to save the little one she was supposed to babysit on time or do monsters win the battle? You need to see this dark fantasy comedy to find out the answer!

Apart from these movies, you can also watch “The Addams Family” (2019), “Casper” (1995), “The Haunted Mansion” (2003), “Hotel Transylvania” (2012), and “Monster House” (2006). Your kids will love to watch these somewhat scary yet fun movies on Halloween.
