Valentine’s Day is almost here, and what better way to spend February 14 than curling up on the couch with your loved ones and watching family-friendly movies? However, with so many romantic and rom-com flicks available for streaming, finding ones that are appropriate for the entire family can be difficult. You can keep your worries at bay, as we have rounded up a few movies (animated and non-animated) that are perfect for everyone, from toddlers to teens.
Another Cinderella Story (2008) – PG
If your kids are Selena Gomez fans, this family-friendly movie is a must-watch on Valentine’s Day. Mary (played by Selena Gomez) lives with her stepmother and sister, who treat her like a slave. However, on the night of the high school masquerade ball, Mary dances with pop idol Joey (played by Drew Seeley). The two realize that they are attracted to each other. But Mary rushes away before midnight, leaving him with only a music player to figure out her identity. As you might have already guessed, it is a retelling of the classic fairytale “Cinderella” in a modern setting.
You can also watch Camila Cabello’s “Cinderella,” released in 2021. This one’s a musical with a bold take on the classic fairy tale. In this modern retelling, instead of waiting for her Prince Charming, she goes above and beyond to fulfill her dreams with the help of her fabulous Godmother (played by Billy Porter).

If the modern retelling isn’t up your alley, this film might be the one for you. This Valentine’s Day, watch the fairytale unfold on the big screen in this family-friendly movie. When Cinderella’s cruel stepmother prevents her from attending the Royal Ball, she gets unexpected help from the lovable mice and her Fairy Godmother. Does she make it to the ball? The Princess and the Frog (2009) – G
Set in New Orleans, this musical film is about Tiana, who is an aspiring restaurateur. However, things go for a toss when she mistakenly turns into a frog after kissing Prince Naveen, who was also turned into a frog by an evil force. Together, they embark on a hilarious adventure to break the spell and become human again. Watch this family-friendly movie on Valentine’s Day to learn how they break the spell.
Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown (1975) – Not rated
The gang celebrates Valentine’s Day, with Charlie Brown hoping for at least one Valentine for a change. Moreover, Linus struggles to get the biggest card for his teacher while Lucy tries to declare her love for Schroeder. This would be especially great to watch with your teen, as it revolves around Charlie Brown stewing over not having a Valentine. The “He-Man-Woman-Hating” Club fears losing a member when Alfalfa falls in love with the sweet Darla. Are they able to save the club or will love win? “Up” is a must-watch movie on Valentine’s Day and the best part is that this touching film is family-friendly as well. The animated movie is all about the true meaning of love. Carl, an old widower, goes off on an adventure with the help of Russell, a boy scout. They take his flying house to search for Paradise Falls to fulfill Carl’s late wife’s dream. Carl and Ellie’s love story will have the adults bawling — because their love is exactly what we wish for — and the little ones get to enjoy the shenanigans of adorable Russell.
Lady and the Tramp (2019) – PG
The movie tells the romantic tale of a sheltered uptown Cocker Spaniel, Lady, and a street-smart downtown mutt, Tramp. When Lady’s owners have a baby, she feels neglected and runs away, accidentally meeting Tramp while she is out and about. How they both end up together makes up the rest of the plot. This movie is a remake of the classic that is the 1955 animated film. If your family is filled with dog lovers (or animal lovers), this one is perfect for you.

Determined to get his childhood friend Lina back, working-class college student Din wants an all-powerful dragon to grant him a wish. However, through hilarious adventures in modern-day Shanghai, the Wish Dragon shows Din the magic of possibilities. This family-friendly movie is one that you must not miss on Valentine’s Day.
You’ve Got Mail (1998) – PG
Superstore magnate Joe Fox and independent bookshop owner Kathleen Kelly fall in love thanks to the anonymity of the internet.
