Weekend Movie Releases August 9th – Elysium, Planes

New In Theaters 8/9/13

 

1. Elysium (R)

Starring Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, and Sharlto Copley

In the year 2154, the very wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population resides on a ruined Earth, a man takes on a mission that could bring equality to the polarized worlds.

 

2. Planes (PG)

Starring the voices of Dane Cook, Teri Hatcher, Brad Garrett, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Dusty Crophopper dreams of competing in a famous aerial race, but he’s afraid of heights. With the help of his mentor Skipper and a few new friends, Dusty sets off to make his dreams come true.

 

3. We’re the Millers (R)

Starring Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudeikis, Emma Roberts

A pot dealer creates a fake family as part of his plan to move a huge shipment of weed into the U.S. from Mexico.

 

4. Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (PG)

Starring Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T. Jackson

Based on the book series.  In order to restore their dying safe haven, the son of Poseidon and his friends embark on a quest to the Sea of Monsters to find the mythical Golden Fleece while trying to stop an ancient evil from rising.

A motorcycle stunt rider turns to robbing banks as a way to provide for his lover and their newborn child, a decision that puts him on a collision course with an ambitious rookie cop navigating a department ruled by a corrupt detective.

 

3. Mud (PG-13)

Starring Reese Witherpsoon and Matthew McConaughey

Two young boys encounter a fugitive and form a pact to help him evade the bounty hunters on his trail and to reunite him with his true love.

 

4. West of Memphis (R)

Starring Jason Baldwin, Damien Wayne Echols and Jessie Misskelley

An examination of a failure of justice in Arkansas. The documentary tells the hitherto unknown story behind an extraordinary and desperate fight to bring the truth to light.
