I love it clipped on the side, but place it right above a pony tail in the back to create a classic look with any outfit. Grab some scraps and sew up a whole half dozen with me right now!
MATERIALS
- Scrap fabric
- Basic sewing supplies
- Glue gun
- Hair clip
INSTRUCTIONS
Begin by cutting out a 5”x7” piece of fabric
Fold it in half on the long side, right sides together. So now the piece is 3.5”x5”. Press.
Stitch a ¼” seam and turn right side out
Press so the seam is in the center of the back
Take each end and turn the raw edges in. Pin in place.
Edge stitch each side as close to the edge as possible using a complimentary thread
Here are all 6 sewn up to this point
Take one piece and grab it in the center and fold it accordion style until all the fabric is gathered together in the center
Place the gathered piece and place under your presser foot, making sure even on the sides
Sew a zig-zag stitch and backstitch several times to secure
Now, cut one 2”x3” pieces for each bow
Fold over the 3” side, wrong sides together and press
Stitch a ¼” seam down the side.
Trim the seam allowance down to an 1/8”, turn to right side and press with seam down center back
Place a generous amount of hot glue on the edge of the strap
Bring the other side of the strap up and around and secure with the hot glue to form a loop
Once dry, slide the loop over one of the sides of the bow
Use hot glue to secure the loop at the back and to attach the hair clip
Now, you have quite the selection of hair bows for your little one!
