Sports-loving locals support their home teams, including the second oldest AFL club in existence, and there are three independent football leagues running in the area. Also popular, the Geelong Racing Club which schedules 22 horse racing meetings annually, including the Geelong Cup in October. The city is home to baseball’s Bobcats, who play their home games at Geelong Baseball Centre in Waurn Ponds, and the Geelong Supercats basketball team that is based at The Arena stadium. Geelong regularly hosts internationally-televised triathlons and racing car events such as the Geelong Speed Trials.
