Lock Down

I might be slowly going insane.

At the very least, I’m getting totally bored with my Princess movie collection.

Did I forget to mention that said lockdown is the result of a sick little girl?

Yeah.

Even worse, said sick little girl has a fun little thing called Parvovirus – not the same one puppies get – that’s also known as fifth disease and slapped cheek virus.

Probably because mothers are slapping their cheeks with frustration after the first day.

From what her doctor tells me, she’ll get it one time and then never again. From what I’ve seen, it’s a series of high fevers with no other symptoms. Well, except an odd little rash around her hands and bright red cheeks. And this lovely little virus lasts up to two weeks during which time she’s highly contagious. And the incubation period is up to 28 days which means if Joseph’s going to get it, it’ll be right around the end of the school year activities.

I’m just loving this situation.

My ex and I are taking turns staying home with the little Miss. She’s feeling fine – except for that nasty fever – so keeping her entertained has been a challenge. So far we’ve watched enough Princess movies to float a boat on the sea of frothy dresses. We’ve read, we’ve eaten popcorn, we’ve painted our nails.

And we’ve napped. For long periods of time. Because the fevers seem to hit in the middle of the night, keeping us both up until dawn.

So that’s been my week. How’s yours?
