You might not be thinking about the holidays yet, but Gayle King is. During an interview with the nation’s leading infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, King said she plans to ban unvaccinated members of her own family from joining her for Thanksgiving. And you know what? Good.
King was asking Fauci what he thinks the CDC could have done better to get messaging out to the general public about vaccine safety and why the vaccine is so critical in the fight to tamp down this virus that just won’t seem to go away. Fauci’s response was somewhat predictable, a blend of rehashing what the CDC already did and indicating that at this point, people need to listen to trusted authorities like a pastor or family doctor.
In an exchange during the interview, King said, “I have this problem with some members of my own family, which I’m now going to ban for Thanksgiving vacation. That’s how strongly I’m taking what you’re saying.”
Is It Safe To Have A Bris During Coronavirus?
Her frustration with obstinate ignorance in the face of sound science was visible to me. I am also at a point where I cannot understand how public health has become a political debate. And frankly, I’m done trying to be polite to people who can’t have compassion for the health of others seriously enough to wear a mask or get a simple, safe, science-backed vaccine that we know works. Unvaccinated friends and family are not welcome in my house, at my gatherings, or near my kids.
The two discussed the recent update about the Delta variant Covid virus that has quickly become the dominating variant in the US. This particular mutation is especially insidious because it spreads 250% times faster than the first iteration of the disease. What’s worse is that the Delta variant is also growing much more quickly, leaving a trail of more than 1,000 copies of itself inside of an infected person. This new data means that the Delta variant is potentially more deadly. In the last few months, as the vaccine has rolled out across the country, 99.5% of Covid deaths occurred in those not vaccinated.
Not Every Family Will Feel Safe Entering The Post-Vaccine World
What’s frightening is that not only are some people refusing to get the vaccine, one state is banning vaccine outreach. In news that sounds crazy, the state of Tennessee has slammed on the brakes for all Covid vaccine outreach. But they didn’t just stop there; these fools also ended all outreach for all vaccines to minors. The level of wreckless ineptitude is breathless.
The messaging is plain and simple: get the vaccine and save your life. For more information on the Covid vaccine, check out the CDC.
