How To Make DIY Stretch Mark Cream

Let’s get this straight: stretch marks are beautiful. They are scars that hold stories, whether telling the magical tale of carrying a little human in you or the proud adventure of successfully embarking on a fitness journey resulting in you losing weight/gaining muscle. However, while we can work on accepting and loving our stretch marks, there’s no harm in applying something that can help with its appearance. Well, a DIY stretch mark cream is just what you need!

Stretch mark creams from the store tend to be expensive. However, you can make one of your own from the comfort of your home. Here’s a stretch mark cream recipe that has gotten many through their pregnancy, loaded with deeply nourishing ingredients for which your skin will thank you. Don’t forget to double-check with your doctor before applying this DIY cream on yourself.

Materials

  • Shea butter
  • Cocoa butter
  • Coconut oil
  • Vitamin E oil
  • Lavender essential oil

Procedure

  1. Mix two tablespoons of shea butter, cocoa butter, and coconut oil in a bowl.
  2. Add ten drops of vitamin E oil to the mix.
  3. Place mixture in a thick-bottomed pan and stir over low heat until melted.
  4. When it has melted, whip it with a whisk and remove it from the heat.
  5. Add five drops of lavender essential oil and whip again until well mixed.
  6. Store stretch mark cream in an airtight container like a small mason jar.
  7. Massage the stretch mark cream regularly on areas of concern (we recommend the tummy, butt, sides, breasts, and tops of thighs).

While this makes a good amount of the salve or cream (it’s a mix between the two), you could double the recipe to have even more on hand. Applying the cream before the appearance of stretch marks will significantly help with the prevention (which is the way to go, as it is hard to lighten them after they have appeared).

The DIY stretch mark cream is made of shea butter, a skin “superfood” that deeply moisturizes, heals, and helps with skin regeneration. It also contains cocoa butter for the delicious smell, which is a high-quality emollient and is very moisturizing for your skin.

Moreover, coconut oil helps with tissue healing and repairs and softens skin. The Vitamin E oil also promoted healing. Lastly, the lavender essential oil has anti-inflammatory properties, with its fantastic scent providing mind relaxation benefits.
