Olivia Wilde is a mama-to-be with a maternity style I can't get enough of.

Putting together a stylish outfit while battling nausea, fatigue, and swelling body parts was—for me—the ultimate fashion challenge. When I was pregnant with T not too long ago, I constantly fought the urge to wear stretchy leggings and a roomy sweatshirt for any outing. All I wanted was to feel comfortable, and it seemed like looking good meant feeling uncomfortable.

Seeing Olivia Wilde's maternity style these past few months has reminded me of the five most helpful maternity fashion tips I discovered during my own pregnancy. With the right pieces, mamas-to-be can be stylish and comfortable. Get yourself some Olivia Wilde maternity style—here's how:

1. Statement Jackets Are Your Best Friend:

Moto, collarless, bomber, utility—investing in your favorite fashion jacket silhouette will make any and every maternity outfit instantly stylish. Olivia's leather moto jacket was spotted with flowy black maxi dresses, preppy striped tees and jeans, gorgeous cocktail dresses, and everything in between. My go-to statement jacket was a Chanel inspired collarless jacket from Zara that I wore with anything and everything. And the best part about investing in a fashion jacket? You can rock it post pregnancy, too!

2. Look Sharp—and Chic—in Blazers:

This idea also falls under the outerwear category and is perfect for our working mamas-to-be. Finding a great fitting blazer creates an instantly polished look for a big board meeting or—in Olivia's case—a sweet date night with her guy. I paired my beloved Zara faux-leather trimmed blazer with crisp white dress shirts, lightweight sweaters, and my favorite tees and jeans. There are also preppy striped or tipped cotton blazers that are perfect for our weekend brunches or Casual Fridays. And like the statement jacket, this is another investment that continues to work past our pregnanacy days—win!

3. You Can Never Have Too Many Sweaters:

Olivia wore this feminine cable knit sweater this week, reminding us that sweaters are the most comfortable piece of clothing for our expecting friends. Avoid chunkier knit (a.k.a. heavy) sweaters as these add bulk and make us look and feel bigger than we already are. I invested in a variety of long, lighter knit sweater pullovers and cardigans from Gap, Vince (on sale), J.Crew & J.Crew Factory, and Zara and still wear them often during my daily adventures with T. Sweaters are the best!

4. Bold Accessories Are the Pregnant Alternative of Sexy High Heels:

Olivia Wilde's electric blue clutch is as eye catching as Carrie Bradshaw's electric blue Manolos. Almost. Just because we have to take a temporary hiatus from our head turning high heels doesn't mean we can't add a punch to our pregnancy outfits. A shocking splash of color or shine in your favorite accessory—a radiant orchid colored scarf, metallic gold clutch, or vibrant green statement necklace—lifts any maternity look from good to glam.

5. Fight Legging Temptation with Great Fitting Maternity Jeans:

Leggings are a dream for mamas-to-be. They're stretchy and all kinds of comfy. But if we want to keep up some semblance of style during these nine months, we can't wear them every. single. day. Enter the great fitting maternity jean; with a full panel elastic waist it might be the most brilliant idea ever invented. Almost every major denim brand offers a maternity jean option nowadays, but I chose my favorite value version—The Rockstar Maternity Jegging at Old Navy.

With all of this great maternity style inspiration, here are a few items I've found around the web that live up to Olivia's style philosophy and are easy on our wallets.
