Pretty shoes are my version of yummy candy—like my style idol Carrie Bradshaw, the moment one catches my eye there's no way I can resist. And when I was pregnant with T, shoe shopping was one of the few fashion indulgences I had. Lucky for us shoe shopaholics, this spring our favorite style icons and fashion brands are celebrating bright colored shoes in every shade under the sun. But constructing an everyday springtime look with colorful shoes can be a bit tricky. Here are a few easy ways to say yes to that pop-colored pair and look effortlessly stylish at the same time.

Make Space Between Prints and Pop:
Small scale prints look lovely with bright colored shoes. When putting together this print plus pop look, try and keep the printed item on the upper half of your outfit. This keeps your two statement items from fighting with each other and creates an everyday mom look in perfect fashion balance.

Make Your Look Sing with Stripes:
I'm partial to horizontally striped anything—they're timeless, seasonless, and when styled correctly, striking. For an ensemble with bright colored shoes, I always default to an easy mariner striped top or—as seen on the always stylish Emma Stone—a cute bold striped shift dress.

Denim for the Win:
If you live in your skinny rinse jeans as much as I do, then this bright colored shoe solution is for you. Denim is your new shoes' best friend—white denim looks awesome with every bright color imaginable, dark rinses looks great with all colors but are best with primaries (as seen in Rebecca Romijn's cool airport combo above), and light to medium washes look loveliest with pinks, greens, and purples.
