Gym Clothes That Will Make You Feel Hot (Even if You Never Work Out)

As a mom, I’m allll about stylish, fun activewear…even though (full disclosure), half the time I put on my workout clothes, I don’t make it to the gym. Errands, play dates, cranky toddlers…there’s a slew of excuses obstacles.

Gym clothes have gotten so much more fashionable these days—and I’m loving it. Even on days when I’ve spun around the kitchen versus going to SoulCycle, it feels good to look “sporty chic” instead of sloppily disheveled, cursing myself for missing yet another workout. Honestly, I don’t know what I’m going to do when stylish gym gear goes out of style.

This season, there’s a TON of hot gym clothes to help me do just that…or, I suppose, get inspired about hitting the gym after school drop-off. Check it out!

Have you guys jumped on the Marine Layer bandwagon yet? If not, you totally should. Their designs are perfect for parents who still want to look stylish. In addition to having a brilliant men’s size called “MARGE” that my husband loves (a size between medium and large for those of you who haven’t had your coffee yet), their women’s prints are amazing. Case in point: Marine Layer’s hot new fall Galaxy Leggings, $98, from their just-launched Rise Activewear capsule. Made for the “casually athletic,” these pants rock an awesome intergalactic print, plus they’re made from breathable, moisture-wicking fabric with four-way stretch. Sign me up for a Sunday stroll in these bad boys, stat!

Cue that catchy Taylor Swift song…some things just “never go out of style” (and ombre is definitely one of them). Another amazing pick from Marine Layer—I’ve already ordered their Ombre Leggings, $98, for my barre class…as well as mommy-and-me toddler ballet.

All right, so I may need to downward dog my way into a few more hot yoga classes before I shimmy into these Elephant Hot Pants, $72, by TEEKI, but honestly, the unique print and cool style may just inspire me to work out more. I also ADORE that they have a roll up or down waistline, i.e., the high waistband won’t dig into you while picking up your little ones, and you can roll down to the low once you obtain those svelte lower abs you’ve been lusting after!

Okay, let’s talk tops. Because as much as I love myself some printed yoga pants, I definitely don’t want my entire booty hanging out while I run to the supermarket with my daughter. That’s why I love this new Pep Open Back Tank by Vimmia, $88. Cut from a soft blend of modal and spandex, this relaxed-fit tank features an open back and open side detail that look so, so, so good with a colorful bra and leggings at your next Pilates class…but also conceal a postpartum belly or a booty that’s enjoyed a few summer BBQs and beers.

Another mom-friendly tank (with a bit of sass) is the Flirt High Low Tank, $88, sold on KiraGrace. It’s a two-part style: a lightweight jersey tank on top with the foundational support of a moisture-wicking compression bra in a pop python print beneath. It also has a trendy but flowy high-low silhouette that conceals the hips, so you can pick you kids up post-workout without feeling totally exposed.

Make no excuses. You can still run on a rainy day with this adorable Adidas by Stella McCartney Cap, $46. It will keep your hair where it belongs: out of your face and out of the rain. It also has a pre-curved brim to keep the sun out of your eyes, while the wicking material keeps the sweat out of your ‘do.

Pair that cute Stella McCartney hat with this adorbs navy moto jacket from Alo Yoga, $118. I first fell in love with the brand while visiting the Fontainebleu spa shop in Miami. I was surprised that they were cute and high quality, but not as expensive as my old Lululemon standby. Luckily, the brand is now sold in Equinox shops as well. This piece has some trendy moto-jacket details that are so hot in fall activewear, but could just as easily double as a transitional jacket on the playground.

Mesh remains all the rage in activewear this fall—and this Dark Romance One-Shoulder Tank in Metal, $78, by KiraGrace is a mom-friendly option that provides ventilation without overexposing your entire stomach or bellybutton. (Something about bellybuttons beneath mesh just seems wrong to me.) Anywho, it also has a unique one-shoulder silhouette that’s oh-so-pretty and flattering.

Sports bras often get overlooked in the style department, but not this one from Phat Buddha, $60. I love the cut-out details, even if I’m still too shy to wear it without a baggy tank on top.

These Goddess Tights from Alo Yoga, $94, are worth worshiping. The performance fabric slims inner and outer thighs and seriously lifts your booty—they sorta remind me of my legwarmers from my (way-back-when) ballet days. Added bonus? The waistband engineering is tummy flattening and super flattering. And these are available in a rainbow of colors and prints.
