How to Repurpose Your Old Scarves

Do you have plenty of scarves in your wardrobe that you don’t wear anymore? If yes, then instead of letting them sit in your closet, why not repurpose and create something useful from your old scarves? This way, you can empty your closet space and create something beautiful that will also be useful in everyday life. These ideas are budget-friendly, and you can make them with the supplies you already have (or at least are quite likely to have) at home.

1. Frame the scarf

Give your wall a new look by framing your old scarves. This is a unique and inexpensive wall decor idea to brighten up your room instantly. You can frame the scarves with existing picture frames to freshen up the decor without significantly changing anything.

2. Upcycle your jewelry tray

If you are bored with your jewelry tray or looking for ways to hide the wear and tear, your old scarves can be a lifesaver. Instead of spending money on a new one, mod-podge your scarves to the tray for a new look. We can guarantee they will look like a million bucks.

You can use this idea to hide the wear and tear of your side table, center table, dresser, etc. If you don’t want to use Mod Podge on these surfaces, put the scarf under the glass top for a quick makeover.

3. Make a twist bracelet

You can easily make bracelets with your old scarves. It’s a great idea to repurpose them. They will make an excellent gift for your loved ones, plus a great DIY accessory to flaunt with your dresses. Moreover, you can make a bracelet from one scarf or use various scarves to create a multicolored one. All you will need is a wooden bead to add to the end to keep the bracelet from opening.

And don’t stop at bracelets. You can also make necklaces, hairbands, ribbon decorations for your hat, belts for your dress, camera straps, watch bands, etc., with your old scarves.

4. Make cushion covers

You can repurpose your old scarves into cushion covers with basic sewing skills. Take out your vibrant-colored scarves to amp up your living area cushions. You can add tassels at each end to make it more glamorous. However, remember to use only sturdy scarves that can survive rough usage. It would be best to avoid delicate silk scarves as they may not be ideal for daily use.

5. DIY scarf wreath

Next time, while making a wreath, raid your old scarves collection first. If you find any woolen scarves, repurpose them and turn them into wreaths by covering the wire with them. You can use this idea to make your Christmas wreath, Halloween, etc. Just make sure to choose the print and design as per the occasion.

6. Make them into baby bibs

With just a few materials, you can easily give your baby a fashionable look with scarf bibs. Plus, you can make bibs of different sizes for your baby’s comfort. The scarf bibs will look so classy that everyone would want one. This is a great budget-friendly gift for your friends and family members who have just become new moms. If not, you can easily use them as headscarves for your little ones.

You can also repurpose your old scarves by turning them into tote bags, shrugs, buntings, tunics, curtains, etc. So, use your imagination and try to repurpose your scarves into something useful.
