Recall: Almond and Peanut Butter Brands on Fears of Contamination

A full list of the products involved in the recall have been posted on the FDA’s website. The company is currently working to remove this inventory from retailer’s shelves and warehouses. Consumers are advised to dispose of any potentially affected nut butters and to directly contact nspired Natural Foods (1-800-937-7008) between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. CST for a replacement or refund.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, normally healthy people who ingest salmonella-tainted food may show symptoms including diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps within the first 12 to 72 hours. These symptoms are frequently accompanied by vomiting, chills, headache and muscle pains, and can persist for four to seven days. The CDC says that about 48 million people contract some form of food poisoning annually, and salmonella is the top cause of all food-borne illnesses.

The risk is particularly high for children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems according to the CDC, so these individuals should practice extreme caution.
