I breastfed both of my kids. As they got bigger, I started getting paranoid that my milk supply wouldn’t be enough for them. After speaking to my midwife and a lactation consultant, they advised me to try some lactation cookie recipes.
I took action, and ended up with a huge increase in my milk. Yes, boosting my milk production meant eating cookies. Insanely delicious ones, too. Are you psyched, or what?! It turns out there are a few key ingredients that are majorly beneficial to milk production and they can be conveniently combined in cookie form — ie. Lactation Cookies — for your snacking pleasure (and to your baby’s benefit, too). What are these magical ingredients? Brewers yeast, flaxseed meal, and oats. And chocolate (just kidding).
I’ve tried and tested dozens of lactation cookie recipes (super hard work, lemme tell ya), and been completely wowed by some of the flavor combinations and nutritional alternatives out there. For instance, don’t shy away from lactation cookies if you are gluten-free, or are dealing with your baby’s cow’s milk allergy or nut allergy. There are lactation cookie options for everyone, from vegans to chocoholics and peanut butter lovers. Check out this decadent list of insanely good lactation cookie recipes and dig in!
