Winter Blues

How to Battle Winter Blues

Exercise
Exercising is a great way to feel good about yourself as it can help reduce stress and anxiety.  Going for a jog in the mornings can help you feel more energised to face the day ahead and you’ll keep warm if you’re moving around.  It’s more tempting to stay indoors when it’s cold outside but do try to ensure you get out and about for a brisk walk each day as it will help you feel better.

Banish Bad Hair Days
There’s nothing worse than waking up with dull, lifeless hair that refuses to be tamed.  Take good care of your hair by using an oil treatment after conditioning to help lock in moisture and increase shine and manageability.  Reduce breakages by remembering to use a heat defence spray before blow drying or straightening hair.

Protect Your Skin
Winter weather can dry skin out, but there are some simple ways to help protect your skin from damage this season.  Some basic steps everyone should consider are to drink plenty of water and moisturise daily in order to help prevent dry, chapped skin.  An elasticity boosting supplement, such as Coenzyme Q10, is a great way to help keep skin looking youthful.

Get Together With Friends
It’s always good to get together and relax with friends.  If a night out isn’t your thing, consider having a day at a spa or a pampering evening at home.  Even just arranging a weekly meet up in a favourite coffee shop while the children are at school is a good way to unwind and keep in touch with your friends.

Eat Seasonal Fruit
Staples such as apples and bananas are great, but it’s always fun to add variety to the fruit you eat, so how about including some seasonal fruits like kiwi fruit, grapefruit and clementines .  Eating a good selection of fruit is a great way to ensure you’re getting plenty of immunity boosting Vitamin C – essential during cough and cold season.

Consider Taking Vitamin D
Many people choose to take a Vitamin D supplement during Winter, when there is less sun around.  Vitamin D helps keep our bones strong and also provides a handy immune system boost – great for fighting those winter bugs.

Stay Well Rested
We all feel better after a good night’s sleep so try to sleep well where possible. Research also shows that sleeping well is good for your skin so try to rest well to ensure you look your best at all those glamorous Christmas parties!
