GE and Professional Series Brand Dehumidifiers Recalled Due to Fire Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product due to a potential for fire hazard.

What does this mean for you?

If you have purchased or own one of these dehumidifiers, you should immediately stop using this product as there is a potential for a component in the dehumidifier’s compressor to short circuit and pose a potential fire hazard. These units were sold at Walmart, Sam’s Club, Home Depot, Menards and other retail stores nationwide from approximately February 2007 through June 2009.

What should you do if you own or have purchased this product?

You should immediately stop using this product and contact the manufacturer, Midea, toll-free @ 877-593-8721 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit the firm’s website at www.recallverficiation.com for more information on whether or not the product you own is part of this recall.  Additional information can be found at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website @ www.cpsc.gov.
