If you’ve ever been given a facial from an esthetician in a professional spa or salon, you probably already know the benefits of how great your skin looks and feels afterwards.
But let’s get real, with the pace of today’s busy mom, chances are, you’re not going to find yourself languishing in a luxury spa very often. But don’t despair, here’s a way you can set up your own skin care regime at home and it won’t cost you a bundle either.
No matter how busy you are with kids and family, taking good care of your skin should always be an essential part of your personal hygiene routine. Some of the benefits of giving yourself an at home facial are:
- It promotes the health of your skin and establishes a healthy routine of setting aside a few relaxing minutes for yourself
- The extra time spent cleansing will help stimulate and increase your skin’s circulation
- Your face will benefit from the exfoliating of dead skin cells
- Your skin will look radiant at a fraction of the cost of and you’ll will emerge more relaxed for yourself and for your family
- You’re worth it and you deserve it!
So why wait any longer, here’s how to get started:
Take 15-30 MInutes for Yourself
Choose a day and time when the kids are at school, or when you can have a friend or your spouse completely take over the responsibility of the kids. Pick a quiet place in your home, where you can shut the door and leave the world behind you for at least 15-30 minutes.
Cleanse & Apply A Facial Peel to Exfoliate Dead Skin Cells
Begin by carefully cleansing your face and neck areas with your favorite cleanser, then rinse and gently pat dry. I was lucky enough to have been given a Clarisonic Mia Cleansing Brush last year for Mother’s Day and I use it all the time now whenever I am cleansing my face, but a simple washcloth or facial scrubbing pad will do a great job too.

After thoroughly cleansing and rinsing your face, carefully pat your face and neck dry, lay down and rest for five minutes and cover your eyes with a Silk Flax Eye Pillow that is naturally scented with Lavender, which is said to promote a calming effect on the nervous system.

Next apply a “peel” of some sort….one of my favorites is the H2t Natural Pumpkin Peel which you should apply as directed on the label. This natural pumpkin, multi fruit complex peel is especially fun to use this time of year when Fall is in the air and the holidays are just around the corner.
You might feel a slight tingling or stinging feeling as the enzymes from the pumpkin complex go to work to slough off dead skin cells and replenish the skin with essential nutrients. Leave on as directed on the label, times will vary depending on your own particular usage. Thoroughly and carefully rinse off the peel with a gentle washcloth and gently pat your face dry.
Complete Your Facial with a Rich Moisturizer
To complete your facial, end by applying your favorite moisturizer to seal in all the benefits of your at home facial treatment.
When I want to really indulge myself, one of my favorite face moisturizers is Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturizer. It’s not inexpensive, but a little goes a long way and leaves your face looking dewy and youthful.
Your face should now look radiant and you’ll be ready to face your family feeling refreshed and renewed. If you can do this at least 2 times a month, aside from the benefits for your skin, you might just feel a little more relaxed too. And this time of year, if you need a holiday gift idea for a friend, any one of these products would make a great gift or could be presented together as an awesome gift basket too.
