Pregnant actress Kristen Bell explains why she has decided not to attempt a natural delivery the first time around.
Kristen, who is expecting her first child with ‘Parenthood’ star Dax Shepard, sat down with Ellen DeGeneres to chat about her first experience with pregnancy. She explains why she’s too chicken to try to deliver her baby without drugs, “I’ve got nothing to prove (by having a natural birth). I feel like, when I arrive at the hospital, I want a glass of whiskey, I want the epidural in my back and I want to get hit in the face with a baseball bat and wake me up when it’s over because I’ve seen the videos – and it looks terrifying.”
Even though the birthing videos have her running scared, her ever-changing body does not! “My self-esteem has never been higher. I look in the mirror and I think it’s the reverse (of) body dysmorphia, because I can understand what my shape is, but I see Brooke Shields. And it doesn’t make a lick of sense, but it’s something that the baby’s giving me hormonally makes me feel really giggly and happy.”
Kristen’s bundle of joy is due later this spring.
