Get crafty with your door. “Make a wreath or garland out of the extra limbs from a Christmas tree,” suggests DIY expert Meg Allan Cole. String the branches together and wrap galvanized wire or twine around them, and secure to a railing, she advises.
Personalize your welcome mat. With just the use of some spray paint, brushes, stencils and a plain doormat you can create a festive welcome in just minutes. Be creative! You can do something simple like this modern christmas tree pattern or write out a festive message for a personal welcome.
Make your ornaments do double duty. Don’t let your Christmas tree have all the fun. Bring some of your ornaments outdoors and hang them around your door or better yet if you have a porch hang them between columns above the top of your stairs and along the railings for a high impact entrance.
Get organized before you hang lights. Whether you choose hanging icicle lights, multi-colored lights or traditional white lights, no outdoor holiday decor is complete without them. But cut out the frustration of incorrectly installing your twinkling lights by being prepared with the necessary supplies. Clips, hot glue, and an extension chord are your new best friends.
Fill up a window box. Even if you don’t have a grand entrance, a window box is the perfect way to spruce up the outside of your home. Fill it with branches, pinecones, and berries.
