5 Latina Entrepreneurs (& Moms) I’m Crushing On

I find that it’s really inspiring witnessing the ingenuity and resourcefulness of women today. The #girlboss mentality has truly spread across the web and into my heart with hard-working women demonstrating that goals can be accomplished and dreams can be realized no matter the set-backs, lack of time, or lack of funds. It’s even more gratifying when female entrepreneurs start something big out of small ideas and raise the bar in their chosen niche. It’s even more rewarding and spectacular to witness when these women happen to be moms.

As a mom, I understand the dedication, willpower, and stamina needed to deliver and achieve. Drawing daily from depleted energy can be daunting, that’s why seeing mothers from different backgrounds — at different ages –creating magical change in their lives can serve as a surge of creative energy when goals seem unattainable.

As a mom, I’ve grasped that you have to work harder than your once childless self — but benefits now include continuous motivation and support.

Here are a few female go-getters are making a difference and challenging others to do the same. They’ve inspired me, and hopefully they’ll inspire you too.

Vanessa Bell of De Su Mama
De Su Mama is the brainchild of Vanessa whose focus is legacy building for her children and discussing the ins and outs of multiracial parenting. Topics include multiracial marriage and parenting, recipes (hello Cuban food specialties like Sopa de Fideo/Sopa Con Pollo), and lifestyle hacks from decor to little girl curls.

Alice Nielsen of Styled-It
I personally became acquainted with the super talented Alice of Styled-It when she designed my wedding flowers eight years ago. She’s truly a “Latina Martha Stewart” in every sense and can conjure up the cutest table and party ideas on the planet! It’s just in her nature to create beauty;  her online tutorials and personalized workshops will teach you to do the same. A mother of three lovely grown children, Alice’s work ethic, warm nature, and creative vision is nothing short of inspiring.

You Tube Sensation Dulce Tejeda
Dulce Candy is a not only insanely gorgeous, she’s a talented blogger, vlogger, brand ambassador, and author. From her hit YouTube Channel, to her blog, to her upcoming book — this young mom can do it all! I love a petite Latina who really makes you stand up and take notice…and can teach you a thing or two about looking and feeling your best!

Sculptor Maritza Hernandez
This last one is extra personal. Of course I’m passionate about this lady — she’s my mom. Maritza Hernandez (yes we have the same name) is an accomplished sculptor and PR guru who has been commissioned to immortalize such Hispanic legends as Minnie Minoso for The Chicago White Sox and Saint Josemaria Escriva, founder of Opus Dei. On top of her professional success, she taught me everything I know and is a loving and amazing grandmother. (Editor Note: I forgot to include that my mom also spearheaded the statues in front of Chicago’s Rock and Roll McDonald’s with the one facing the front door being a replica of me! It’s been about 9 years and it still seems so surreal that sometimes I forget).
