No-Bake Cheerios Treat Cups for Breakfast or Dessert

Waffle cones are so last year. I make these Honey Nut Cheerios treat cups for my kids as the base for dessert (or even for breakfast). These crunchy, edible cereal bowls can be filled with yogurt and fruit in the AM, or arroz con leche, frozen yogurt, or ice cream for dessert.

You can even make these mini by spooning the mixture into muffin tins, letting them set, then filling them with chopped fruit, berries, sweetened cream cheese, or whipped cream. Drizzle them with melted chocolate or dulce de leche for a party-worthy bite. They’re super-easy to make! Here’s how:

Prep Time:
Cook time:
Servings: 4

Ingredients:

  • Honey Nut Cheerios: 4 cups
  • mini marshmallows: 2 cups
  • non-stick cooking spray: as needed

Topping suggestions

  • ice cream, yogurt, or arroz con leche: 1 to 2 scoops
  • sprinkles
  • fruit

Directions:

Step 1: Combine marshmallows and Cheerios in a 4-quart non-stick saucepan.  Heat over medium heat.  Stir with a large spoon coated with non-stick cooking spray until marshmallows have melted and have mixed completely with cereal.

Step 2: Use non-stick cooking spray to coat small glass or coated ceramic bowls (about 5 inches wide). Additionally, spray a small spoon with non-stick cooking spray.

Step 3:  Carefully spoon 1/4 of the Cheerios mixture into each bowl.  Shape the  mixture with the cooking spray-coated spoon, pressing gently to form the Cheerios bowl.  Let set for 30 minutes.

Step 4: Gently slide the set cereal bowls out of the glass bowls.  Top with your favorite ice cream or yogurt and decorate with sprinkles or fruit.
