Must-Haves For Cleaning The House

It may not be our favorite way to pass the time, but with these must-haves for cleaning the house, cleaning can be — dare we say it? — enjoyable!

With the right cleaning products and tools, the drudgery of cleaning house can be made a smidge better. Who doesn't like to feel more effective (and use cute things), right?

Keeping up daily with crumbs and dirt on the floor is a must in order to keep your space looking spotless even when you haven't had time to do a full house clean. Having a broom and a dust brush and pan set with sturdy, gather-it-all bristles (like these super-cool ones, top image, from Alice Supply Co.) makes this job quicker and easier than if you were to use something flimsy.

A great smelling, non-toxic, all-purpose cleaner (like Mrs. Meyers All Purpose Cleaner) is not only good for your family and the environment, but having just one go-to cleaner in your cupboard makes life a whole lot easier.

Doing a deep house clean is made less of a juggling act when all of your products are in one spot. Buy a good-sized bucket (we love the look of these old-school galvanized ones from Amazon.com) with a handle and load it up with what you need for that particular cleaning task. That way, you won't be running back and forth grabbing what you need as you make your way around the house.

Handy wipes (like these Antibac Wipes from Method) are a lifesaver when you've got just a few minutes to spare before guests arrive, or when you're in too much of a rush to pull out the spray bottle and paper towels to do a quick tidy-up. Stash a pack in each bathroom and under the kitchen sink for easy access.

A microfiber duster (like this one by Bissel) makes fast work of cleaning baseboard moldings, table tops, and just about any surface that gathers dust. Choose one that has an extendable handle to eliminate bending and to get to those hard-to-reach areas.

Now, it's your turn. What are your must-haves for cleaning your home? Do tell!
