One of the first and most important party planning decisions is choosing the location. Pick a party location and time based on your child’s age.

A great place for a party for a baby on their first birthday would be a location such as your home, or the home of a loved one that they are familiar with. Babies are easily overwhelmed, and on this day especially all of the attention will be on them, so a familiar setting will be comforting to them. Often as parents we feel the need to celebrate with everyone we know because milestones are so important to us, but keeping the guest list small, mainly close family, is really ideal.

For toddlers, consider parks with open fields or petting zoos. These locations should feel secure without the confinement of indoor locations. For preschoolers and older kids, bowling, bounce houses, or even tea parties are always a hit. These party locations would create the perfect atmosphere to have fun but without too much structure.

Finally, make sure you host the party in a location where your child feels comfortable! If his or her favorite thing to do is chase bubbles in the backyard, do just that…have a bubble party at home!
