Hiking with Your Dog on Memorial Day

First and foremost, Memorial Day is a day of remembrance to honor the memory of all who have died in our nation’s service .  The second part about Memorial Day, is that it also provides many people with an extra long weekend to enjoy spending time with their family, friends and pets.

So if you’ve been wanting to do some hiking and you’ve been considering taking your dog along too, first check to make sure the trail or location you’ve chosen is designated as one where pets are allowed. Most State Park hiking trails that allow dogs, will also require you to keep your dog on leash, for obvious reasons.

Whenever you’re out on a hiking trail with your dog, its especially important to go well prepared with a leash, plenty of poop bags and some kind of a water drinking vessel too, so your dog will be able to drink and stay well hydrated.

So when I came across this cool Ruffbowl Retractable Leash Accessory, it just seemed like the perfect thing to make hiking with your dog super easy because it keeps everything you need in one convenient place. It’s designed to clip easily onto most large retractable leashes and it will hold used poop bags away from your hand until you get to a place where you can dispose of them properly. It also acts as a drinking bowl and can hold up to 4.5 ounces of water, so your dog will have a vessel he can drink from, after you fill it up from you own water bottle.  And it’s available in 3 different colors too.  So what are you waiting for? Get out there on that hiking trail with your family and now it’s easier to take fido along with you too.
