On November 29, 2023, Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller reportedly physically assaulted his pregnant girlfriend. However, he turned himself in on Thursday, November 30, 2023.
The police have confirmed that the star player surrendered to face a charge of third-degree felony assault. The crime is punishable by 2-10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Miller was booked into the DeSoto Tri-City Jail in Texas. He was released shortly after on a $5000 bond (via CBS News).
It started with police being called to a “major disturbance” on Wednesday at Von Miller’s Dallas home. Upon their arrival, the National Football League (NFL) player was accused of assaulting “a pregnant person,” which is reportedly his pregnant girlfriend Megan Denise (via Marca).
Miller had left the scene before police arrived, and the victim was treated for minor injuries. The police affidavit notes that he put his hands around the neck of the pregnant woman twice.
According to the written statement, he also “pulled out a chunk of her hair and threw her onto the couch.” The affidavit also stated that Von Miller and the woman have been in a relationship for seven years and have two children together (via AP News).
