Boston Mayor Michelle Wu recently came under fire for sending out invitations to a Christmas party meant for minority city councilors only. The politician is well-known for being the very first Asian American and woman of color to be elected as mayor of Boston (via New York Post).
Soon after her aide sent out her invites, the mayor drew heavy criticism as non-minority city councilors also received the same. Within 15 minutes, her aide apologized and clarified that the invite was only meant for the “Electeds of Color.”
Mere hours before hosting the holiday party, Michelle Wu defended holding the same. She further clarified that she had already talked to the uninvited city councilors, which consisted of the seven white members of the City Council of Boston (via Fox News).
